Astrid Blumer is a visual artist and illustrator whose work reflects on the convergence of the natural world and feminine energy. Working from her Cape Town studio, she creates imagined botanicals and symbolic forms using layered brushwork, detailed mark-making, and a rich yet soft colour palette.
Her pieces often feature recurring motifs like vessels, representing the womb and a place of potential, flowing floral forms and the sun and moon, that speak to transformation, growth, and the quiet rituals of life. Astrid’s art is rooted in organic movement and emotional resonance, aiming not to replicate nature, but to imagine what could grow in a parallel, inner landscape.
In addition to personal collections, she welcomes commissions and creative collaborations in illustration, publishing, textiles, and design.
